Types of Jewelry Appraisals

Insurance: Allows you to obtain insurance coverage on your jewelry and watches. This is the most common type of appraisal at Spicer Greene Jewelers.

Estate: Determines the fair market value for the purpose of probate and estate tax calculations.

Liquidation: These appraisals determine the value of jewelry or watches assuming they need to be sold quickly at below market values.

How often do I need to update my jewelry appraisals?

The exact timeframe can vary between each insurance company, but three to five years is considered standard. Many jewelry owners discover this too late, only to discover their appraisals are outdated after the loss of an item.

Appraisals may also need to be updated if the value of the piece changes dramatically. For example, if the price of gold shifts significantly or if your watch becomes a sought-after collectors item.

Tell us about the piece that you'd like to have appraised, and we'll follow up with you to discuss your options.
