Community Spotlight: Carol Spagnoula, World Central Kitchen
World Central Kitchen has been integral to the post-Helene recovery effort in WNC, providing tens of thousands of hot meals daily to people across the region.
We spoke to Carol Spagnola— a local photographer turned volunteer coordinator—about WCK's ongoing work.
"So like the power of our community and what's been happening, to be able to fill these spots has been amazing," Spagnola says, surrounded by a flurry of activity at WCK's ad hoc headquarters in South Slope.
"We've got people, that are distributing food at our different sites in the area. We've got people food prepping, we've got a paella and chili station, people helping with Bears Kitchen. We have greeters. We have, drivers and riders. There's a lot of different needs to continue feeding the community."
